Dinosaurs in Frankfurt-Schwanheim

The Kinderhilfestiftung e.V. in Frankfurt am Main has been around for 25 years. It is an initiative of citizens and companies from the Rhine–Main region. A key concern of this foundation is integrating children with and without disabilities. Back in 1996, the Kinderhilfestiftung e.V. created Germany’s first inclusive playground. The third playground is now being created in Frankfurt-Schwanheim on the site of the existing woodland playground.

The theme of the playground is: dinosaurs. Among other things, this playground features a volcanic landscape, a dinosaur net swing and a play brontosaurus, manufactured by Kinderland Emsland Spielgeräte. The artistic designs for these came from the graduate designers Susanne and Matthias Schiffke.

The official opening ceremony for the inclusive ‘prehistoric reptiles’ playground took place on 16 September 2007.
