The ultimate childhood dream: sailing, romping and playing on your very own wooden ship! That dream is now coming true for children with and without disabilities on the “Sürther Feld” playground in Cologne. A new inclusive play ship now graces the site; it can be boarded via a rope ramp, climbing wall or the connected harbour walkway. On board, you can feel like a real captain – either steering the steel helm or up top in the lookout tower.
A slide allows for a quick escape in case of emergency at sea. But there is plenty more to discover on the generous wooden harbour pier: a system of walkways lets you take an exciting circuit. A special quay makes it possible to load ships using sand buckets and tipping mechanisms. The entire installation was developed for children with disabilities or wheelchair users and is completely step-free.
