New schoolyard design at the Karmeliter School in Frankfurt am Main

Like a gateway, the steel crawl tunnel spans the entrance to the newly redesigned inner school courtyard. Steel rods painted in a Mikado‑style pattern take on the supporting function. The climbing tunnel gains transparency through the installation of steel grilles.

This Mikado character continues in the form of the support posts of the large play structure with an integrated bowl slide. The climbing combination is completed by various ways up and down. The schoolyard offers a wide range of seating and places to linger. Another, self‑contained area of the schoolyard is the balancing route, which incorporates natural stones and is extended with a spring bench, stepping discs, as well as simple round balancing logs made from robinia.
